At MERIDIONAL, we believe that the foundation of an inclusive and effective multilateral system lies in the active participation of diverse actors, including civil society organisations (CSOs).
Our commitment to bridge the gap between global decision-making processes and local realities, seeks to ensure that every stakeholder has the tools and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the international arena.

Explore our programmes and discover how MERIDIONAL translates this commitment into action:

This programme supports communities of thematic experts and representatives from Permanent Missions, particularly those from the Global South, to enhance their engagement in multilateral diplomacy and negotiations in International Geneva.

Beyond offering technical advice, The Chamber serves as a platform for learning and empowerment enabling diplomatic representatives to contribute more effectively to national priorities while promoting constructive international collaboration. Through this dual approach, this programme not only addresses immediate needs but also acts as a catalyst for sustainable, long-term impact.

PROJECTS:

Le Bureau Diplomatique

This project focusses on supporting representatives with tasks, such as statement drafting, reporting, policy analysis, and paper reviews, to enhance participation in multilateral fora.

Le Réseau Diplomatique

It facilitates formal and informal networking and synergy-development opportunities (e.g., roundtables, webinars and workshops) for knowledge-sharing, skill enhancement, and strategic partnerships. This bolsters experts’ capacity to better engage with multilateral processes and advocate for global issues aligned with their expertise.

MERIDIONAL recognises the importance of civil society advocacy, based on the highest international principles, including the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to shape inclusive policies and actions.
Under the principle of inclusivity, this programme promotes advocacy as a critical tool for civil society’s presence and engagement in International Geneva, with focus on contributing to the empowerment of a diverse range of non-governmental organisations, particularly those from the Global South and underrepresented communities.
PROJECTS:

Advocating-for-Advocacy Network

Advocacy Observatory

This provides a holistic overview of the stakeholders, beneficiaries, promoters, and donors involved in advocacy work. The Observatory serves a data repository and research platform, collecting and analysing trends, strategies, and needs in advocacy. It publishes reports to enhance the impact of advocacy initiatives by offering evidence-based insights and supporting informed decision-making.

This programme supports non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in their institutional development, helping them establish or strengthen their footprint in International Geneva through specialised advisory, technical support and capacity-building opportunities.

It shores up NGOs’ ability to engage in advocacy, research, and policy development within the multilateral system, fostering synergy and cooperation among them while strengthening connections with key stakeholders.
